The challenges of dating as an Asian-Australian man

The phrase "I'm not like other Asians" has left my mouth on numerous occasions in the hope that these five words will miraculously eliminate the stereotypes and assumptions that others have of me. Dating is a completely different beast in that trying to overcome the notion that Asian men aren't sexy becomes twice, thrice, maybe four times more difficult. A digital world, accentuated by COVID conditions has probably, again, increased the difficulty setting by emphasising the cosmetic element when engaging with potential suitors.

This sounds pretty doom and gloom but I, Jeffrey Zhao, am here to deliver the business case for dating an Asian man: increased cultural awareness, able to take you to better restaurants, dope anime recommendations, reduced language barrier when travelling to their motherland, additional holidays to celebrate, and the list goes on but MOST IMPORTANTLY...they have distinct personalities with endearing qualities, strong character, just like men of all cultural backgrounds.

Stereotyping gets us nowhere. Everyone has something to bring to the table, they just need to be given the opportunity to take a seat.
